a Drazi and Draxis

The Drazi are a very aggressive species. They believe that a conflict brings out the best in a person and so fights between different Drazi are quite common within their society. The winner of such fights are usually rewarded with higher positions.

The Drazi gather in two groups to determine the government of the Drazi Freehold every six Earth years One group is the purple group, the other the green one. The leader of each group has a special sash. These two groups fight each other for about one year and the leader of winning group leads the Drazi government for the next five years.

Ivanova and a Drazi

The fights between the different group members are normally not lethal but in 2259 the green group began killing the members of the purple group. Cmdr. Ivanova grabbed the sash of the killed green leader and so became the leader of this group herself. She stopped the killing by declaring all Drazi on Babylon 5 to purple.

The Firehawk is the mainstay of the Drazi Navy. It is a light and fast cruiser and has a very good combination of weapon and defensesystems. The biggest disadvantage is the missing jump capability which is due to the fact that the Drazi never ever needed a hyperspace device. Their controlled space is quite small and they have only some smaller colonies.

The Drazi are technologically at least as advanced as the Humans or Narn and so the Firehawk is a ship to be observed during a battle. During the Shadow War in 2260 and 2261 this cruiser was one of the most used vessels in the Army of Light forces.

The Sky Serpent is a heavy fighter that is capable of taking on the Earth Force Starfury and the Narn Frazi Fighter. It has been especially build to fight against the Centauri Sentri Fighter. The fighter is not as fast and agile but has the better armor and can remain longer in the combat area.
