Brakiri

League of Non-Aligned Worlds | Drazi | Vree | Gaim | Pak'Ma'Ra

Brakiri Ambassador

The Brakiri society is based on trade and economics. Their government could best be described as a consortium of several mega companies. The main goal in life of nearly every Brakiri is to make money for a better existence but many Brakiri have not managed to earn enough money and so they depend on criminal syndicates. These syndicates have a very high influence and so more and more Brakiri try to escape the normal "Brakiri way of life".

In 2260 the Shadows formed an "alliance" with the Brakiri and urged them to attack their neighbors. The Shadows began attacking Brakiri ships and colonies shortly after this and so the Brakiri joined the Army of Light.

One of the most fascinating events in the Brakiri society is the so called "day of the dead". This event happens every 200 years when a comet passes the Brakiri homesystem. Every Brakiri has to be on home soil, either on Brakus, one of the colonies or just a rent area. The Brakiri use this day to interact with dead people, mainly family members or friends but sometimes even enemies.

The Brakiri on Babylon 5 bought a piece of the station in 2262 to celebrate this day. A sector of Babylon 5 suddenly disappeared and the people living there had strange encounters. Ranger Lenier met Mr. Morden and Lochley's dead friend Zoe appeared but all returned to normality when the day was over.

The Brakiri are the only race of the League using large scale cruiser in their fleets. The vertical design of this cruiser is quite familiar with the Minbari Warcruiser at first look, but the technology used by the Minbari is still some hundred years more advanced than that of the Brakiri. When not used for patrol missions or during war times, this cruiser also acts as civilian transport or cargo vessel and so the overall performance is very poor compared to a "full-time" warship. The Brakiri Cruiser is very cheap to build and to maintain and so it is believed that the Brakiri have build some thousands of them.

Brakiri Cruiser in trouble

Many were destroyed in the Shadow War and in the following years during battle against their neighbors and other races. The Avioki Cruiser was one of the backbones of the Army of Light in 2260 and served very well when used in high numbers.
