| The Adv. Omega-X Destroyer is a byproduct of the Earth Civil War. The Omega-X Destroyer is a step between the Omega Destroyer and the Warlock Destroyer. Originally these ships were only used for testing new devices like weapons and armor, but when Sheridan gained more power, Clark couldn't effort to spend even more time and resources on the Warlock Destroyer. He needed new ships that were able to fight and win against Sheridan's WhiteStar fleet and so the Omega-X was born. |
The destroyer is equipped with a simplified Shadow Bio-armor and fusion beam weapon. The engine systems and the overall design are still conventional technology known from the Omega Destroyer.
About 20 of these ships went into battle against the WhiteStar fleet in 2261. In their previous battles against loyalist Earth Alliance forces, the WhiteStar fleet had no major problems in winning the fight. The WhiteStar ships were faster, better armed and had better defense systems but this time the enemy was at least equal. The WhiteStar laser shots only slightly damaged the hull and the weapons of the destroyer were able to destroy a WhiteStar vessel with a single hit.
Many WhiteStar-Class vessels were destroyed in this battle. Their only advantage and trump card was the extreme agility. They outmaneuvered the destroyers and finally managed to destroy all Omega-X Advanced Destroyers but a high price was paid for this victory. Many WhiteStars had been destroyed or disabled and Lt. Cmdr. Ivanova was hurt mortally during this battle. She only survived because Ranger Marcus Cole gave his life for hers.
