The Omega Destroyer is the follow-up of the Nova Dreadnought which looks quite familiar in design. Most parts of the new ship have been completely new developed when production of the destroyer started after the Earth-Minbari War. Several facilities began building the the first ships to avoid that all of them could be destroyed in a single attack. Unlike the Minbari Warcruiser the Omega Destroyer still depends on a rotating section to provide gravity.

The main weapons are aligned direct to the front and rear side of the ship which requires that the target is direct in front or behind the destroyer. In addition to this, two full squadrons Starfuries or Thunderbolts are stationed on the destroyer. These fighters provide the main protection from other fighters or smaller ships for the quite sluggish cruiser.

Several Omega Destroyers were destroyed in mid 2260 when President Morgan Clark ordered Captain Dexter Smith to take control over Babylon 5 by force. Babylon 5 got support from the two renegade destroyers Churchill and Alexander. These vessels had fights with loyalist Earth-Alliance Forces the days before and decided to join Babylon 5 in the fight against President Clark.

Earth Civil War

The first wave was destroyed but the Churchill didn't survive this battle. A few minutes after this a second attack force appeared. With many ships destroyed or damaged there was no hope for renegade commanders. Capt. Sheridan just wanted to surrender when four jumppoints were opened above Babylon 5. Instead of other Earth Alliance forces, three Minbari Warcruiser and the WhiteStar arrived. All Earth Alliance forces left Babylon 5 space after a warning from Delenn.

The remaining Omega Destroyer Alexander left Babylon 5 to search for other renegade ships after the battle. Later more destroyers turned against Earth President Morgan Clark and helped to free and secure the Earth colony at Proxima 3. During the attack on Earth, telepaths that had been smuggled onboard several Omega Destroyer by the Mars Resistance Movement, were able to disable bout 30 Omega Destroyers before it came to any fight.

Capt. Sheridan's old ship, the Agamemnon, was nearly destroyed while trying to destroy on the Earth defense platforms. The Omega Destroyer is one of the backbones of the Interstellar Alliance after Earth Alliance joined in 2262.
