The Nova Dreadnought is the precursor of the Omega Destroyer which looks very familiar design except the rotating section and the missing dual plasma cannons. Design and construction began in the late 2230's after the Centauri and the Narn presented their new cruisers. Originally Earth Force wanted a bigger and more powerful ship but these plans were cut when costs went too high.

Some Nova vessels and their escort ships encountered a Minbari fleet during one of the test missions. A misunderstanding by the captain of the EAS Prometheus led to the Earth-Minbari war which lasted for three years. During this war the Nova and Hyperion vessels were the backbone of the Earth Alliance forces.

Only a few Nova Dreadnoughts survived the war and others were replaced by the newer Omega Destroyer. The Nova Dreadnought can be equipped with different weapon combinations for a large range of mission. In addition to this the ship is equipped with bombers, attack fighters, ground assault ships and over 10000 ground troops (when needed).
