Darkness Ascending

Okay, updates probably aren't going to be monthly, but there will be the occasional update! Like today, I have made a small update with a new Featured Mix for everyone to enjoy.

Could we see new Babylon 5 music from Chris Franke in the next year? He is scoring the soundtrack for the new direct–to–DVD release Babylon 5: The Lost Tales, and I'm sure he'll do his usual amazing job. Here's hoping that some kind of soundtrack will be made available after the release!

Welcome back!

After four years offline, The Music of Babylon 5 has been resurrected. Thanks to the webmaster of FirstOnes.com and his project to restore lost Babylon 5 fan sites to the Web, he got me excited to bring back my own site.

Back in 2002, amidst my studies and my full-time job, I found myself coming home each night wanting to crash and sleep rather than fire up the Mac and work on my web sites. Making these mixes takes some time, and I was quickly becoming less willing to make the time. Also, the cost of my server back then wasn't chicken feed. These two factors are the reasons why I decided to close the site. But now, four years later, I have figured out how to deal with busy schedules better. Most significant, though, is the ability to run the site for free thanks to the FirstOnes.com archive project!

Despite the redesign, most of this site is what you remember from years back, but I will also start updating it again. The remaining music that hasn't been featured on this site is precious little since Sonic Images hasn't released any new soundtracks since my site went offline. However, I will still maintain the site and update it periodically with new mixes and musical projects.

Thanks to technology advancing over the last several years, especially internet speeds and audio software, a lot of the music on this site has been re-tooled. Any mixes that were two–parters before have been stiched back together to become one track. The audio quality of the new mixes will be a lot better (less distortion from compression) thanks to Apple's amazing suite of audio software. All the tracks here are optimized for iTunes but are still in MP3 format for use in your preferred player.

There are several new mixes this month in addition to the Featured Mix, The Face Of The Enemy. All the old mixes that were 2–parters have been remixed so that they are now just a single track. Most have been remixed from scratch, so there is some new music in almost all of them. Check out the whopping 44–minute long Thirdspace mix! I will also start refurbishing my old mixes in the following months so that they are better quality. Finally, thanks to the speedy (and soon speedier) servers at FirstOnes.com, you should find that downloading here is a great deal faster!

Be sure to tell everyone that the site is back!
